On April 26th , 2010 The San Antonio Police Chief William McManus honored several officers of the department and citizens of San Antonio with various awards for outstanding and lifesaving achievements at the Carver Academy. One of the special recipients was Alfonso Trevino III, a 2nd year Radiologic Technology Student of the Baptist School of Health Professions. Alfonso rescued a woman from a vehicle moments before it burst into flames. Alfonso received the "Citizen Hero Award" for his courage and brave rescue of a helpless woman. Alfonso was accompanied by his wife and 2 sons to share in the honor.
