If caring is your calling, the Perioperative Nursing Program at the Baptist School of Health Professions provides RNs with the education and training necessary to discover the exciting spirit of surgical teamwork.

The Perioperative Nursing Program is designed to prepare the registered nurse to function as an entry level staff nurse in the operating room providing professional care for surgical patients ranging from newborns to the elderly.

The registered nurse specializing in perioperative nursing practice performs a wide variety of roles that may include circulating nurse, scrub nurse, or surgical assistant. While the perioperative nurse works in collaboration with other health professionals, the nurse has the primary responsibility and accountability for nursing care of patients having surgery.

Prerequisites
Registered Nurse - must possess current Texas RN Licensure
Graduate Nurse - eligible to sit for the NCLEX exam

Note: The NCLEX must be successfully passed prior to the end of the course in order to receive a certificate of completion.
